I never asked but I heard you cast your lot along with the poor. But then I overheard your prayer, that you be this and nothing more than just some grateful faithful woman's favourite singing millionaire, the patron Saint of envy and the grocer of despair, working for the Yankee Dollar.

why i buy vinyl

i don't buy vinyl because "it sounds better". it may sound better, though a certain physist friend has a compelling case why that can't be true, but only under circumstances including the perfect stereo, perfect turntable, needle and ear, which i don't posess. also as you know i don't only buy vinyl. it would be stupid to do so. however here is a list of reasons why i still buy vinyl:

1. it looks good. no, make that: it looks great. from the covers to the vinyl itself it really kicks the ass of cds as far as appearance goes.

2. it turns round and round and you can watch it spin. i like that.

3. it's black.

4. sometimes it's not black and then it's even better.

5. if you live in amsterdam it costs 1-5 bucks. sigh...

6. it has that special smell and feel.

7. i understand the technology behind it.

8. it's just so cool. i mean, look at this:

for all these reasons i buy vinyl. (in case you were wondering)

George,
I went with my little sister, who has turned into a David Bowie freak, to Atomic Records in Burbank where she bought that very same Peter and the Wolf album with the green vinyl.
