I never asked but I heard you cast your lot along with the poor. But then I overheard your prayer, that you be this and nothing more than just some grateful faithful woman's favourite singing millionaire, the patron Saint of envy and the grocer of despair, working for the Yankee Dollar.

get back

with the fear of becoming a morbid blog let us salute another great musician who died a few days ago. i speak of course of billy preston one of my favourite organists of all time and not only because of his association with the beatles, rolling stones etc. a soul-funk hero who left us so young and if i may be so selfish another great musician i will never get to see perform...

rip

so back in the states and i was off to atlanta for an experimental economics conference. the city is mediocre and coca cola world sucks. the cnn center tour is ok. the people in the conference were brillian albeit in an academic way most of the time. definetely made me feel dumb but kind of proud to share their world for a few days. interestingly the guy (other than my co-author) with whom i got to hand out the most was a non-academic brazilian that game me the thumb (sic) up every time he saw me for the first few times anyway.

i have been thinking of a little fiction experiment lately but more on that later...

atlanta in all its glory

overdue from my country house and slightly HDR messed with (see post on litwack.org)
