I never asked but I heard you cast your lot along with the poor. But then I overheard your prayer, that you be this and nothing more than just some grateful faithful woman's favourite singing millionaire, the patron Saint of envy and the grocer of despair, working for the Yankee Dollar.

soul men

back in new york for a few days now and things are similar and different. i don't do new year's resolutions but i do try and have resolutions and then change them and forget about them but for now i'm managing to eat better by cooking more and more varied meals, exercise -to be honest we just went for squash yesterday but it was a pretty big step, god i'm in so much pain, swimming will also happen once a week. i don't if it's a sort of post jet lag but i am waking up around 7:30 each morning and i like it. i also got two important subscriptions one to the new yorker for the train rides and the other to netflix for the lonely nights. hey that almost rhymes. here is a picture from my countryhouse taken two weeks ago

let's dedicate it to the memory wilson pickett who died yesterday. low rawls died a couple of weeks ago and isaac hayes is in the hospital. what's going to happen to us when all these people are gone?
