neuro...what?
i went and heard a talk yesterday by colin camerer an economist at caltech about the emerging field of neuroeconomics. yes, you heard right. this guy not only belongs to that class of economists that attacks the classical model of rationality via behavioral studies that pretty much show how removed we usually are in our behaviour from the predictions of the nash equilibrium (not always but enough) he has set for himself the task of showing what happens in the brain during decision making processes. people in fmris are asked to play ultimatum and other games and .... well you can see the results a little below. he was also a very engaging speaker and pretty much concluded his speech by saying that "science progresses funeral by funeral" a quote that he didn't attribute to Max Planck but anyway we forgive him for that cause it got good laughs. he also said that in a recent conference he made some comment about nash without knowing that he was there but nash didn't disagree. he was asleep.
this is your brain on unfairness
