I never asked but I heard you cast your lot along with the poor. But then I overheard your prayer, that you be this and nothing more than just some grateful faithful woman's favourite singing millionaire, the patron Saint of envy and the grocer of despair, working for the Yankee Dollar.

profiles

I find this browsing through profiles fascinating. Really. The following is a list of interests from a young lady in Gainesville (sorry Luis).

"cooking, folk art projects, volunteering, reading, meditation, mosaics, candlemaking, spirituality, the internet, astrology, serendipity"

What is wrong with this picture? Is it my problem that I feel disdain for this person without ever having met her? Ok I can live with the candlemaking but when I pair this with "Serendipity?!?". Don't get me started on astrology or "spirituality" either. I just don't know what to think. Yes, "volunteering"also annoys me. I don’t see the reason to advertise her lovely nature, unless you’re willing to argue that this person is trying to set an example, which she’s not. By the way, can the artists explain "folk art" to me? On the other hand, look at this guy:

"Guitar, Music, Trying on sunglases at stores, reading.. im really a boring person"

If these kinds of profiles were all you had, which one would you choose to be your friend?

my friend, i specifically looked for gainesville profiles for this reason. i'm trying to understand. on the other hand the young lady may not be typical gainesville and she almost sounds like a hippy from brown with no shoes on.
